Mr. Norman C. Mose1ey, Director U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Directorate of Regulatory Operations,

Region II, Suite 818 230 Peachtree Street NW Atlanta, Georgia 30303

Subject:

50-302 NRC IE Bulletin 75-03

Dear Mr. Moseley:

During the testing phase at Crystal River Unit #3, we have discovered that ASCO valves of the type described in the subject bulletin were supplied to FPC by the NSSS supplier, B 4 W.

These valves were not listed separately on the equipment list, and therefore, their use was not discovered until we started testing the systems.

Therefore, our letter to you advising that we did not have any of these types was in error.

We have now determined that there are 40 such valves as described in the bulletin in safety related systems at Crystal River Unit #3.

Action has been taken to order the necessary kits to upgrade each valve.

We regret any inconvenience this late discovery of these valves has caused you, but wish to assure you that we are taking rapid and appropriate action.

If you have anymore comments, please advise.

Very truly yours,
