Dear Mr. Fisher:
Toledo Edison acknowledges receipt of your March 13, 1978, letter and report enclosure 78-02 referencing an apparent deviation from Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. 1 commitment to the NRC, listed as a " Deviation" under the heading " Notice of Deviation".
Following a thorough examination of the item of concern, Toledo Edison herein offers information regarding this item, including corrective actions and the iates of corrective action.
Deviation:
Table 6.1-2 of the " Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1, Supplement to Environmental Operating Stage" commits the licensee to the collection of airborne particulate sartples weekly at pre-scribed sampling stations.
Contrary to this commitment, the licensee collected airborne particulate i mples intermittently during the period September 20, 1976, through December 13, 1976, at several sample locations.
Response
The corrective action taken, the results achieved and the cor-rective action taken to avoid further noncoupliance are as follows:
A training class, reviewing each missed sample, was given on March 29, 1978, to Chemistry and Health Physics personnel, stressing the seriousness of missing any environmental samples.
An additional training class on the same subject was given on March 22, 1978, to the sample collector for sample station T-23.
