Maccary Assistant Director for Engineering, Directorate of Licensing EVALUATION OF FLOW LIMITER BEING INSTALLED IN OCONEE UNIT 1 FLOObLINE As a followup to the' commitment made at the January 4,1973 meeting with Duke and B&W, B&W has submitted a letter report dated January 15, 1973 covering the design and performance of the flow limiters being installed in Oconee Unit 1.
Although we plan to supplement our Ownee Station Safety Evaluation Report in March 1973 (input from Engineering by March 1,1973), Oconee Unit I i
will be ready for fuel loading by February 3, 1973. Therefore, we need an evaluation of the mechanical design of the flow limiter within the next t
few days, In particular we need assurance that the design is adequate to withstand blowdown forces in'both directions and withstand long term environmental effects such as chemical attack, etc.
