NOTE TO FILE CCONEE 1 HPI SYSTEM INADVERTENT ACTUATION DURING HOT FUNCTI0tiAL TESTS Reference Note to File March 10, 1972, same subject.

Duke telephoned the following data cn the subject occurrence.

1.

One loop HPI pump operated for L minutes and 37 seconds and the other operated for 6 minutes and 15 seconds fer a total' cf 3C00 gallons injected.

2.

Actual measured temgerature drop in the prirnry system U

coolant was 5 (531 to 5260).

3 Analysis using assumption of ec=plete mixing of injected water yielded.34 F temperature drop per pass, transient time in prisary locp 2L seconds and total temperature drop of 9.6 F.

There was no boren in the system and-all ECC systems operated as designed.

5 In a subsequent telecen between Peltier and Pavlicki, Pawlicki indicated he felt there is no problem here.

6.

On other subjects, Duke indicated a fuel loading date of May 15,1972, to June 1, 1972.

Also Duke would like permission to bring cne fuel element into the facility forffuel indexing operation.
