C. Long, Chief PWR Branch No. 2 DPL OCONEE THYROID DOSE DUE TO POST LOCAL CONTAINMENT PURGING As requested by your branch we have calculated the thyroid dose at the exclusion radius boundary due to ourning the containment.
The resulting dose is 39 rem based on the following assumptions:
1.
Purping begins on the fifteenth day follcwing the loss of coolant.

Continuous purging at 21 SCFM.

Only organic iodide remains since the buffemd sprays renove essentially all the elemental iodine (equivalent to a soray dose reduction factor of 10).
4.
Charcoal filter efficiency = 70% for oroanic iodides 5.
Meteorology is the same as 4-30 day stgndard staff model for 3
the duration of purging (X/Q= 5.24x10~ sec/m ).
6.
Breathing rate is constant (2.32x10-4 m /sec).
