I

Dear Mr. Thies:

1 I received a copy of your- letter to Mr. Giambusso dated February 19, 1975, concerning inpingement of fish at the Cconee l Nuclear Station. Back in August , 1974,. I advised Duke Power  ;

Company that this type of information concerning impingement was all that we would need and that as long as the number of fish that were impinged was not significant, then we would be satisfied with the letter and summary sheet as we have received regularly ,

l since then.

From September 5 until December 20, the total nunber of fish collected on the screens was less than 700. On December 19, the number jumped to 11,000. On January 2, 1975, it was back at 2,168, 5,086 January 16, 1975, 1,404 January 30, 1975, and on the one most recently submitted for February, .a total of 93,544 fingerling fish were impinged. This is a weight of some 422.2 pounds which we definitely consider significant and feel that we should be informed as to why or what may be done to prevent this high mortality.

It is my opinion that if the mortality remains at this high level for any length of time, that it would definitely have an adverse effect on the fishery resource in Lake Keowee.

ou rs truly ,
