OCONEE PLANTS, SEISMICALLY INDUCED FIDOD On the basis of the January 15, 1976 Jackson /Stepp memorandum on recent earthquake activity in the vicinity of Jocassee Dam, we have reviewed our files to determine the bases of our seismically induced flood analysis for the Oconee OL.

On the basis of a licensee analysis of the 380-foot high Jocassee Dan for.05g vertical and.lg horizontal accelerations, the staff concluded that the Jocassee spillway would not fail and, therefore, a seismically induced flood was unlikely.

l A preliminary analysis of each a flood, without regard to cause, indicates the reactor area could be vulnerable to both inundation j

and a flood wave. However, a more detailed analysis (requiring data ve do not have in our files) might indicate such an occurrence is =m1Nly for any of several reasons.
