. reflect the insertion limit change.

This amendment request is being submitted in response to significant high wear rates on 17 x.17 Rod control Cluster Assemblies identified at several foreign and domestic Westinghouse plants.
t Attachment I contains the proposed Technical Specification changes. Attaciunent II contains a discussion of the justification and a No Significant Hazards
- Analysis. This analysis is included pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91. It has been concluded that the proposed amendment does not involve significant hazards considerations.
The proposed changes are to be first implemented during the Catawba Unit 1 cycle 5 initial criticality. Unit 1 cycle 5 initial criticality is scheduled for March 27, 1990. Therefore, it is requested that the NRC review and approve-the proposed amendment prior to March 1990.
. Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 (b) (1) the appropriate South Carolina State Official is being provided a copy of this amendment request.
