DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 CLARIFICATION OF TV ELECTRIC'S RESPONSE TO THE RAI FOR FSAR CHAPTER 12 REF: TV Electric letter to the NRC, logged TXX-89476, dated July 21, 1989 Gentlemen:
In the referenced letter, TU Electric stated that design modifications were pending for installing additional shielding around.the spent fuel transfer' tube and for extending the height of the access control barriers around the i
spent fuel transfer tube and the upper level incore instrumentation area.
The i
response was not specific regarding the schedule for completion of these activities; therefore, the following information is provided.
The additional shielding modification and barrier extension around the spent fuel transfer tube are scheduled to be completed by the first scheduled refueling outage.
If irradiated fuel movement is necessary prior to the first scheduled refueling outage, administrative controls, consisting of access control points as a minimum, shall be employed during periods of irradiated fuel movement.
The barriers in the upper level incore instrument room are scheduled to be modified prior to Unit 1 initial criticality.
