7. Kenny, L, Scholl, R. Fuhrmeister and Ms. M. Evans from July 31-September
11, 1989 at the Limerick Generating Station, ttmerick, Pennsylvania.
The
inspection cons fted of document reviews, interviews, and observations of
activities. The results have been discussed with Mr. Graham Leitch and
Mr. Martin McCormick, Jr. of your staff.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified. However,
we are concerned about the failure to follow a procedure which led to three
workers being overcome with heat exhaustion during the performance of control
rod drive cleaning. There have been two other similar incidents involving heat
exhaustion during approximately the last two years and it appears this area
requires increased management attention.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.79(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosures
will be placed in the Public Document Room.
