i DOCKET NO.:
70-1966 APPLICANT:
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) v
SUBJECT:
LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION DATED MARCH 18, 1980
Background
TVA has.been licensed under Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-1526 to possess byproduct, special nuclear and source materials contained in i
. packages approved pursuant to 10 CFR Part 71 in private carriage.
The subject timely application dated March 18, 1980, requests that this license be renewed.
The license authorizes private carriage from TVA licensed facilities to persons authorized to receive such material and from a carrier's terminal to TVA licensed facilities, all within the United States.
Discussion The licensee is restricted to possessing materials contained in packages approved pursuant to 10 CFR Part 71.
Therefore, there are no radiological safety, nuclear safety, or environmental problems associated with the activities.
Because of recent changes in 10 CFR Part 73 a new license condition has been added as follows:
Special nuclear material shall be protected during transit in accordance with 10 CFR Part 73, the licensee's approved security plan and the conditions of this license.
In addition, the licensee is being instruc.ted in the cover letter to comuni-cate with SGPL regarding their security plan. The license conditions have been discussed with Mr. P. J. Hammons, -TVA, and he had no objections.
Recommendation 0n the basis of the above, I recommend that the 1.icense be renewed.
