Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
In reeponse to your letter of July 3, 1980, transmitting IE Bulletin 80-17, Carolina Power & Light Company is submitting the following information:
The Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Unit Nos. 1 and 2 are currently completing their respective 1980 refueling outages. All items with the exception of items 6c and 7 will be completed by both units prior to their return to power operation. BSEP is currently working with General Electric for the required safety analysis on two pump flow for SLC. A 10 CFR 50.59 review will be performed upon completion of this analysis. Item 7 is not applicable to BSEP.
Item 1, verify that there is no significant amount of water in the SDV and associated piping and that the SDV vent valves are operable and free of obstruction, has been completed. No water was observed in the SDV.
Item 2e, the timing of the SDV vent and drain valves, has been completed.
The opening and closing times which were satisfactory for these valves are as follows:
Valve Open Close Unit No. 1 Vent Valve 13 sec.
25 sec.
Unit No.1 Drain Valve 15 sec.
21 sec.
Unit No. 2 Vent Valve 25 sec.
24 sec.
Unit No. 2 Drain Valve 26 sec.
26 sec.
