As part of the routine vendor inspection, an inspection was =ade of selected documents covering =aterial certifications, =ater-ial receipt inspections, cperation processes, welding qualifica-tions, procedurcs, and centrols for the Midland 1 and 2 pressurizers, E5W contract nu=bers 620-0012-59-10 and 620-0013-59-10, respectively.
~
2.
Status of the Two Pressuricers The inspector was advised that the two pressurizers are partially co=pleted to about the same degree of completion. The shcIl cour-ses including the heater belts are velded into a single asse=bly.
I The top heads are partially completed with the =anway ring, ~ spray nozzle, pressurizer relief nozzle, vent nozzle and lif ting lugs
' welded-into the head.
The inspector noted that no =anufacturing work was being perfor=ed on the pressuri:cr and.that the shc11 courses and top heads were in storage. The shell courses are stored outside the =anufacturing
~
building. The inspector was advised that the shells are protected from the ele = cats by a coating of Tectyl on the =etallic surfaces and are further shrouded with several layers of protective plastic and the sec=s taped.
The heads are. stored inside the manufacturing building without any protective coatings.
ESW inspections of the stored assemblies are required to be conducted in accordance uith procedure 12-2QT-106 Revision 0.
However, in-spection of the records indicated that a deviation notice had been issued spccifying inspection every 90. days. The inspector was advised that the assc=blies are being inspected every 30 days but only the 2,. :....;
s.90-day ^ inspection was docunented.- 35'4 advised the inspector.that :a....x.
. e u le.tter will be sent to shop inspectors specifically requir.cing 'docu-M ntation of the 30-day inspection findings.
