Subject:
Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 1 Docket No. 50-313 License No. DPR-51 Reportable Occurrence No. 50-313/78-9 ECCS Cmall Break Analysis Interim Solutim n) l (File: 0520) gv 1
Gentlemen:
As a followup to Mr. Rueter's letter on the above captf oned subject earlier today, the following information is provided in response to Mr. Vissing's requests for additional information.
Based on communication with B&W we believe that 100% Full Power (FP) operation with one makeup pt:mp in operation combined with our proposed interim fix provides substantial margin to 10CFR50.46.
We' will submit the results of the 3&W analysis including break spectrum, identification of worst break, justificatien for adequacy of core uncovery temperatures, and justification that time scale for operator is winin analysis assumptions, as soon as they are available.
We will submit a Technical Specification change request (per your request) as appropriate to implement the interim fix.
We will submit a proposal for a long term fix, with less reliance on a high state of operator readiness, within three (3) months of this date.
Very truly yours,
\\
