Dear Sir:
Thank you for your " Notice of Hearing on Application for a Construction Pennit" pertaining to Docket No. 50-346 in the matter of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.
I request pennission to make an oral statement at this hearing on December 8,1970; more a matter of a question as to the type of cooling tower planned. From all the materials I can garner, it appears to me that the open-air condenser coolino tower planned is a hazardous operation -- and that it, too, will heat up the surrounding waters --
even beyond the estuary into Lake Erie 'itself.
Also I wonder why we are not expending more research time on a fusion reactor rather than fission, so that we could put a temporary moratorium on all the present " hot-fuel" plants now being planned to prevent hot-fuel disposal problems and to allow for a safe environment.
