OPERATIONS-I

(

The plant b'egan the~ month in Mode 5, finishing the work for a scheduled outago and rr.uing preparations for the Plant restart.

On October 1**, the Overtemperature Delta Temperature (OT6T) setpoints were changed to reflect a new understanding of required temperatures.

This l.

information resulted from the investigation into rccent problems with the OTAT H

prPion of the protection system.

j The hearup from the outege was commenced on October 1**.

Tho startup was 6-halted when a Pressurizer Safety Valve (PSV 8010B) began experiencing leakage.

Troubleshooting was conducteu, the pressure lift setpoint was increased and the valve successfully retestod. !!o additional leakage has occurred.

The Reactor was taken critical at 1920 on October 3d.

I The Plant reaQed 97% power on October 4"'.

The plant is presently being maintained at 97% power as a result of the change made to the Reactor Coolant System maximum average temperature during the setpoint changes referenced above for OT6T.

The plant will remain at this power level until an engineering analysis is completed and changes accomplished to allow us to increase: our output.

th On October 18 the steam driven Auxiliary Foodwater Pump was taken out of service due to an apparent failure of the controller or governor during testing. Troubleshooting and testing could not duplicato or isolate the preblem. After a careful and thorough review of the actions taken the pump was returned to service on October 20'h with a daily test program instituted to ensure operability.

Because no abnormal results occurred during the daily J

testing, it was terminated on October 27"'.

Tests will be performed on the normal frequency, with some supplementary instrumentation and ovaluation.

x The plant onded the month in Mode 1, at 97% power.

MAINTENANCE Significant maintenance completed during this period includes:

Installed nylon discs on the Emergency Nitrogen Regulators.

Repaired Icakago in the Startup Boiler.

Conducted repairs to the Diesel Fire Pump.
