We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) f letter dated Jt.'v 19, 1989, and associated final exercise evaluations of the l
offsite, off-hours emergency preparedness drills conducted on October 20, 1988. These drills demonstrated the ability of the State of Wisconsin and local governments to mobilize staff of their Emergency Operations Centers.
The final FEMA exercise evaluation does not list any areas requiring corrective actions regarding the offsite emergency response plans for the area around the Point Beach, Kewaunee. Zion, and Prairie Island Nuclear Power Stations.
Based on the performance of the offsite agencies during the exercise, FEMA elso did not identify any deficiencies affecting public health and safety in the event of an-accident at the various nuclear power stations. As a result, the approval of offsite emergency preparedness under FEMA Ru7e 44 CFR 350 will remain in effect.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
