This transmits the findings of the September 1-30, 1989 routine inspection of
the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Plant by Messrs. C. Holden and R. Freudenberger.

Those findings have been discussed with Mr. Blackmore of your staff.

The inspectors observed that the activities associated with the repair of the
Number 2 Main Feedwater Regulating Valve and the investigation into the Loose
Parts Monitor System indications were generally well coordinated and effectively
implemented.
In certain radiological controls aspects, however, we assessed
your performance as adequate but not significantly exceeding the minimum
l
requirements established by NRC regulations (see Details 6.b and 9), and as in
need of your continued attention.
