As a result of the inspection conducted on September 19 through October 2, 1989, and in accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2. Appendix C, (1989) (Enforcement Policy) i the following violation was identified:
10 CFR 50.49, Paragraphs (f) and (g), require that electrical equipment important to safety be qualified by test and/or analysis prior to the t
environmental qualification (EQ) deadline of November 30, 1985.
Contrary to the above, the following EQ equipment was not demonstrated to be qualified by test and/or analysis:
a.
In August 1987, the licensee identified Raychem splices used in 10 CFR 50.49 designated applications installed in unqualified l
configurations. Subsequent to this finding, new test data and analysis, and replacing or repairing ceficient splices was performed to demonstrate qualification.
b.
The licensee was unable to demonstrate qualification of Thomas and Betts (T&B) nylon wire caps used in Limitorque operators.
Subsequent to this finding, the licensee demonstrated qualification of the wire caps through new test data and analysis.
r This is considered a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement I.D.)
The inspection showed that stops had been taken to correct the identified violation and to prevent recurrence.
Consequently, no reply to the violation is required and we have no further questions regarding this matter, j
