Dear Mr. Bellamy:
The following information is submitted in rssponse to the questions on.-
our response to Inspection Report 70-398/89 01 posed by Inspector J. Roth to Mr. Hobbs yesterday:
s 1.
The control system now in use involves a manually'staintained record that includes the identification for a specific instrument. the history of calibrations, including the most recent, and notatio'es concerning the current status of that instrument. The records are vis.ially: scanned on schedule to determine instruments whose calibrations are due; those instruisents are retrieved, calibrated, and returned to use. Should an instrument be due for calibration but cannot be located or, during the l-calibration, fail to function properly, an appropriate notation should be entered in the record for that instrument.

Written procedures for instrument calibrations will be developed l
and in place by December 31, 1989, l
