V. C. SUMMER I DATE:
10/02/89 COMPLETED BY:
J. W. HALTIWANGER TELEPHONE:
(803) 345-4297 SEPTEMBER 1989 On September 1, at 0635 hours0.00735 days
0.176 hours
0.00105 weeks
2.416175e-4 months
, the reactor went critical; at 1630 hours0.0189 days
0.453 hours
0.0027 weeks
6.20215e-4 months
, the
-generator was placed on.line. NOTE: The unit had been shutdown for replacement of a pressurizer safety valve.
On-September 7, with'the plant at 100 percent power, a power reduction was commenced to repair a condenser tube leak. During the repair activity, a faulty
. test circuit on the Main Steam Isolation Valve (MSIV) was identified. On September 8, at 0534 hours0.00618 days
0.148 hours
8.829365e-4 weeks
2.03187e-4 months
,'the generator was taken off line and the reactor was taken subcritical at 0830 hours0.00961 days
0.231 hours
0.00137 weeks
3.15815e-4 months
due to inoperable MSIVs. The MSIV test circuit was repaired. On September 15 at 1457 hours0.0169 days
0.405 hours
0.00241 weeks
5.543885e-4 months
, the reactor was taken critical. After holding at low power to clean up secondary chemistry, the generator was placed on line.at 2149 hours0.0249 days
0.597 hours
0.00355 weeks
8.176945e-4 months
on September 17.
On September 19 at 0249 hours0.00288 days
0.0692 hours
4.117063e-4 weeks
9.47445e-5 months
, the turbine tripped from approximately 36 percent power due to loss of condenser vacuum. A missing light bulh associated with the circulating water isolation valve indicator resulted in the false indication of the associated valve and loss of circulating water to the condenser. The generator was L
placed back on line at 0705 on the 19th.
At 0300 on September 22, 1989, a Notification of Unusual Event was declared due to Hurricane Hugo with winds gusting to approximately 70 miles per hour in the immediate vicinity. The NUE was downgraded at 0455 on September 22, 1989.
l The plant was operating at 100 percent power at the end of September, b
