Dear Mr. Shiffer:
Over the past reveral months, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has participated in an NRC pilot project involving the distribution of NRC generic communica-tions (information notices, bulletins, and generic letters) electronically upon issuance.
This computerized system, the Generic Consnunications Electronic Distribution System, also allows users access to the text of NRC generic communications issued since 1987, as well as to the Proposed Generic Communi-cations Tracking System.
The NRC would like to receive feedback on the usefulness of this system from the pilot program participants. While we would appreciate receiving any general suggestions or comments you may have regarding this system, including whether it should be made permanent, we would find it especially useful to receive feedback that provides PG&E's perspective on 1) the usefulness of this system, 2) any improvements or modifications that could be incorporated to expand the current database (for example, including the text of NRC generic communications issued prior to 1987), and 3) any additional types of informa-tion that would be useful if they were incorporated by expansion of the current database (for example, 10 CFR Part 21 notifications and the Generic Communica-tions Index).
