Dear Mr. Arnold:
Representatives of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Brookhaven National La oratory (BNL) met with General Public Utilities (GPU) personnel o
on April 11, 1980, to discuss the issues involved in solidifying EPICOR-II resin wastes. At this meeting, NRC staff was briefed on the GPU plans for qualification testing program by Hittman Corporation for solidified EPICOR-II wastes.
In order for the NRC and BNL to observe the solidification procedures, we request that up to four NRC representatives and two BNL representatives be authorized to witness the sample preparation at the Hittman facilities in Columbia, Maryland.
Based on our discussions with GPU personnel, the sample preparation is expected to take place during the last week of April or the first week of May.
