Dear Mr. Givel:
t This is in reply to your letter dated March 29, 1980, in which you
. requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, copies of documents relating to the Crystal River, Turkey Point and St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plants, and concerning the following:
reportable occurrencas, safety violations or recognizable accident.s; transportation of nuclear wastes through Florida from these plants; decomissioning of the Crystal River Plant; on-site storage of nuclear wastes at Crystal River-3, all Federal Grants by the NRC to the University of Florida at Gainesville's Nuclear Engineering Department and Nuclear Physics Department; and radiation levels, radiation contamination or unusual disease occurrences that are radiation related to humans, animals, plants, or food within a 50-mile radius of Crystal River 3.
In response to your request, we have identified the documents listed in Appendix A as being subject to you request.
Document 10 of Appendix A refers to item 1 of your request; documents 1, 2, 3, and 6 refer to your item 3; document 4 refers to your item 4; document 11 refers to your item 5; and documents 5, 7, 8, 9 refer to your item 6.
Appendix B lists three contracts awarded by the NRC's Division of Contracts to the University of Florida at Gainesville's Nuclear Engineering Department and Nuclear Physics Department.
No grants have been awarded.
With respect to other documents concerning the three nuclear facilities described above, you will recall from your telephone conversation with Mr. Frank W. Karas of this office on April 11, 1980, that the NRC Local Public Document Room (LPDR) for each facility may be visited where voluminous records are maintained for public inspection and copying.
Appendix C lists the locations of the three LPDRs.
For your information, a copy of the lists of file categories used to file documents in each of the three LPDRs is enclosed.
