J. J. O'Connor President P. O. Box 767 Chicago, IL 60690 Gentlemen:
On March 10 through 21, 1980, the NRC conducted a special appraisal of the health physics program at the Zion Nuclear Generating Station as part of an ongoing extensive effort in this area at all operating nuclear power plants in the country. The detailed report and findings of that inspec-tion will be forthcoming. However, because of concerns identified during this special inspection, you and I and members of our respective staffs met in our Region III office on April 11, 1980.
During this meeting, our major concerns, listed in the enclosure to this letter, were discussed in detail. This confirms that Commonwealth Edison Company has initiated action on certain of these concerns and will proceed expeditiously to resolve all concerns. We agreed to meet in approximately two weeks to discuss CECO's method of resolution, including completion dates, for each area.
We appreciate your cooperation in resolving these matters.
Sincerely,
& fe nam U
James G. Kepp er Director
