SUBJECT:

POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE I

At 10:00 A.M. on April 3 1980, the Houston Lighting and Power Co. (HL&P) 3 Project QA Manager informed RIV by telephone that four Brown and Root Con-struction and one Mechanical QC personnel were terminated for possession of marijuana on the j ob.

The five persons were subjected to body search af ter an informant told his supervisor and his supervisor called plant security forces.

Material in possession of these man was determined to be marijuana.

During the search one individual opened a bag of th

==t=rini and ecsttered the contents in the air.

The sheriff of Matacorda County was notified by the plant security force.

No press release was made or planned by the licensee or NRC.

Site Construction progress is currently reported at 35%.

There is no SNM on site.
