Metropolitan Edison Company (Met Ed) has been receiving IE Bulletins for infor-mation without the requirement for action at Three Mile Island Unit 2 (TMI-2),
Docket No. 50-320, since March 30, 1979 and IE Bulletin No. 79-04 as stated in our letter dated June 8, 1979.
Bulletins issued subsequent to the above date and number may or may not be applicable to the recovery status of TMI-2 and current system and site conditions. We believe an evaluation as to their appli-cability should now be carried out.
-You are requested to review all Bulletins issued for action since March 28, 1979, for their' applicability to TMI-2 and report to this office the results of your review explaining why each Bulletin is or is not applicable. Those Bulletins that have direct applicability and/or applicability to system integrity for maintaining TMI-2 in a safe shutdown condition should be accomplished as specified in the Bulletin.
Please include in your report information on when such Bulletin action will be accomplished. We request your report be submitted within 30 days of receipt of this letter.
Hereafter, Med Ed and TMI-2 will be included in the normal distribution for all IE Bulletins. Met Ed should review all such Bulletins for action and include in the response an explanation of why the Bulletin is or is not applicable to the current status of TMI-2. Those IE Bulletins that have direct applicability and/or applicability to systems integrity for the maintaining of TMI-2 in a safe snutdown condition should be accomplished as specified in the Bulletin.
The action for those Bulletins that are not applicable may be deferred provided we agree with your determination of non-applicability.
