Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On November 1, 1979, Duke Power Company provided a response to IE Bulletin 79-23 for the Catawba Nuclear Station. However, at that time, the diesel-g'enerator factory test had not been completed.
?
A sustained full-load operation test has now been completed for the Catawba emergency diesel generators for a duration in excess of 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
. The test demonstrated full-load carrying capability for an interval of not less than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
of which 22 hours2.546296e-4 days
0.00611 hours
3.637566e-5 weeks
8.371e-6 months
were at a load equivalent to the two-hour rating of the diesel generator.
The voltage and frequency requirements were maintained during the test and the cooling systems functioned within design limits.
Ve truly yours, A/
