Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 1, " Instrumentation for Light-Water-Cooled Nuclear Power Plants to Assess Plant Conditions During and Following an Accident," transmitted herewith, describes a method acceptable to the NRC staff for complying with the Comission's re-quirements to provide instrumentation to monitor plant variables and systems during and following postulated accidents in nuclear power plants.
This guide was issued for comment and has subsequently been revised in response to conments received.
The substantial changes to the guide issued for conment included in this revision relate to extending ranges of certain instruments so that worst-case conditions can be monitored.

guide, NRC intends to implement this guide for all nuclear power-plant acclications currently under review and for all operating reactors.
The scope of the requirements for implementation for these plants will be determined by the staff on a case-by-case basis.
