A. Schwencer, PWR Project Branch 2, DRL B&W LCSS-OF-FLOW Ip2ISID?TS, DOCKETS 50-269, 50-270, A:iD 50-287 At 9-10 a.m. in Ecom 1067 at 11 Street, I. me t with U. R. Smith and -

J. :lalloy of B&W to discuss loss-of-flow transients.

I presented to ther some of my concerns chout the ability of the B&W Ocence design to handle less-of-ficu transients. As a result they indicated that B&W would correct the analyses of loss-of-flow transients using:

(1) a more correct, four-pump coastdown time constant of 8 or.9 l

seconds, in place of the second time constant used in the Duke l

FSAR; (2) a corrected discussion of the trip delay times; (3) a-corrected abscissa scale on Figure 3.6;

+

(4) more conservative initial power and temperature assumptions to rettect deadoand in addicin to instrument error.

They also indicated they would provide a more complete discussion of the two-pump coastdcun transient which for=s the basis for the power to flow reactor trip setting.

They indicated they were not planning to provide a' discussion of why i

no low pump frequency trip uns provided, and suggested that if we had.

concerns about the possibility of underfrequency from the grid, we should address these to Duke.

I was cold that the Duke /B&W response to question 3.1.4 (February 14, 1970) about zone enrichments was a whitewash which was provided in order not.to leave the question unanswered in the public record.

They said the zone enrichnents were proprietary and DEL would receive the reques ted -information in a letter.
