This mencrandum supplsments our previses one on this subject dated December 21, 1966.
A copy of A=amdumet No. 3 dated April 29, 1967, to Duka Power Company's application is attmehad for your use. Amendment No. 3 includes a new application for a third pressurized water nuclear reactor to be known as "Ocansa Nuclear Station, Unit 3."
This new reactor facility is to be constructed adjseest to Unit Nos. I and 2 at the Company's Oconee site in eastera Oconee County, appruximately eight miles northeast of Seneca, South Carolina. The new Oconee Station Unit No. 3 is scheduled for completion between November 1, 1972 and August 1, 1973. The appli-cant estimates that the total cost of the Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2 and 3, including the initial core for each unit will be approxi-sately $340,850,000. The addition of Unit 3 will bring the total capacity developed at the Oconee site to 2622 megmustes (electrical).
Please review the new application and provide Mr. Charles A. Lovejoy, Office of the controller, with your comments as to the reasonableness of the applicant's estimates of the cost of construction of the pro-posed Unit 3 reactor. A copy of your e-ts should be sent to this office.
