Dear Mr. Moseley:

In reference to John G. Davis' letter of October 27, 1972 and my letter of November 22, 1972 concerning Directorate of Regulatory Operations' Bulletin No. 72-2, " Simultaneous Actuation of the Safety Injection Signal on Both Units of a Dual Unit Facility," we submit the following supplementary infomation to address verbal requests by members of your staff.

The loadings of the auxiliary startup transformers will be maintained within the ratings of the transformers in accordance with the ASA

" Guide for Loading Transformers" C57.92.

Each startup transformer has a normal continuous rating of 230 kV, 22.4/33.6 MVA, 65 C, OA/FA, 3 9 with two low side windings rated 6900 volts - 2820 amps and 4160 volts - 4660 amps respectively.

The pemissible temporary loadings for a one-half hour duration during abnormal operating conditions would be 200 percent of the normal continuous rating.

To assure that the above ratings will not be cmeeded, I have instructed Mr. J. E. Smith to incorporate appropriate limics and precautions on the transformer capabilities into Oconee procedures. Therefore, if necessary, non safety-related load shedding would be initiated by the operat.or to assure the above transformer specifications are not exceeded.
