Dear Mr. Giambusso:
Duke Power Company is filing herewith Amendment No. 40 to its Application for Licenses for the Oconee Nuclear Station, Unit 1 operating pursuant to Facility Operating License No. DPR-38, and Units 2 and 3 under con-struction pursuant to provisional construction permits CPPR-34 and -35, by submitting seventy-three (73) copies of Revision No. 27 to the Final Safety Analysis Report.
Please insert the revised material in the Final Safety Analysis Report by following the attached tabulation identified as FSAR Revision No. 27.
The purpose of Amendment 40 is to respond to Mr. R. C. DeYoung's letter of December 15, 1972 and to incorporate the following Babcock and Wilcox reports:

Mr. Angelo Ciambusso Page 2 April 13, 1973 impair B&W's competitive position. Accordingly, Duke Power Company hereby requests, pursuant to AEC Regulction 10 CFR 2.790, that the proprietary classification of this report be preserved, and this report be withheld from public disclosure.
Amendment 40 also incorporates West.inghouse Report DT-T&H-517, " Core Uncovering Test at 100 and 400 PSI," dated March 10, 1973, which is transmitted under separate cover.
As required by Section 2.101 of the Commission's Regulations, a copy of this Amendment 40 is being served on Mr. Reese A. Hubbard, County Super-visor of Oconee County, South Carolina, the county in which the facility is located.
