available to the public methods acceptable to the NRC staff of implementing

specific parts of the Comission's regulations and, in some cases, to delineate techniques used by the staff in evaluating specific problems or postulated accidents and to provide guidance to applicants concerning certain of the infor-mation needed by the staff in its review of applications for permits and licenses.
Revision 1 to Regulatory Guide 5.57, " Shipping and Receiving Control of Strategic Special Nuclear Material," describes procedures acceptable to the NRC staff for the protection of strategic special nuclear material during preparation y
i for shipment, transfer between licensees, and receipt by a licensee. The guide

6 was revised to incorporate recent changes to the Commission's physical protection

regulations and reflects public comment and additional staff review.
