A letter dated June 20, 3'80 from Hoffman of Consumers Power Company to Crutchfield of the NRC Staff which transmitted items 1 and 3 to the NRC Staff.
Item 4 also corrects information previously furnished to the NRC Staff, specifically, response number 4 of Consumers Power Company's letter dated January 16, 1980.
All of the foregoing inftsmation is submitted by Consumers Power Company in support of its April 23, 1979 application for an operating license amendment which would authorize the Company to expand the existing capacity of the spent fuel pool at Dig Rock Point.

THERMAL AND STRESS ANALYSIS OF SPE'iT FUEL PCOL STRUC"'URE AS A RESULT OF PCOL 30ILING This letter provides infor:ation concerning tvc issues relating to Censu=ers Power Cc=pany's request to expand spent fuel storage capacity at 31g Rock Peint.
The issues are 1) integrity of structural elements in the event of boiling in the spent fuel pool, and 2) provisica of takeup water to the spent fuel pec1 in the event centainment cannot be entered.
By letter dated February 1, 1980, Censumers ?c er Cc pany ec==itted to supply the NRC a quantitative analysis on the effects of pool boiling on the concrete structure, racks and liner of the Big Rock Point Plant spent fuel pool.
This analysis was intended to answer concerns raised as a result of submittals by Censumers Power Cc:pany en Dece=ber 28, 1979, (respcase to question 3 of that submittal) and January 16. 1980, (response to Ite: h of that sub=ittal).

Trans=itted herewith is ene (1) copy of the NUS Analysis entitled, " Structural Analysis of the Spent Fuel Fool Liner and Cencrete Due to Coolant Syste: Failure for the 31g Rock Feint Nuclear Power Plant-NUS 356T", one copy of the related thermal analysis of the spent fuel pool vall, and one copy of a letter frc= 'iUS to Mr C Larsen (CPCo) dated May 20, 1980, with its attachmenu.
With respect to the second issue, response number h of Censumers Power Cc=pany letter dated January 16, 1980, require = =iner correction. A revision to this response is attached.
Changes are indicated by a vertical line in the =argin.
