June 16,1980 Docket No. 50-213 Mr. W. G. Counsil, Vice President Nuclear Engineering and Operations Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Cospany Post Office Box 270 Hartford, Connecticut 06101

Dear Mr. Counsil:

We have cogleted our review of the information supplied by Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Cogany in letters dated July 26, 1978, October 17, 1979, and April 23, 1980, concerning positive displacement pug vibrations for the Haddam Neck Plant. We have concluded that operation of your posi-tive displacement mtering pump will not cause fatigue failures in chemical volume control system piping because the pug is operated infrequently and because tests which have been run indicate that large aglitude vibrations do not exist in the system. We, therefore, consider this matter closed and require no further response from you.

A copy of our related Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
