Dear Mr. Keppler:

This letter is in response to IE Bulletin 79-17, Revision 1, dated October 29, 1979 (Log 1-262), as applicable to Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. 1.

Welds identified in Toledo Edison's letters (Serial Nos. 1-106 and 1-127) dated November 28, 1979 and April 29, 1980, respectively, have been examined visually per item 2(a) and volumetrically per item 2(b) in accordance with the requirements of IE Bulletin 79-17, Revision 1 and Babcock & Wilcox procedure ISI-129, " Ultrasonic Examination for the Detection of Intergranular Stress Corrosion Cracking "IGSCC" in Stainless Steel Piping", Revision 4.

All of the welds that were examined were found to be clear of recordable indications. As a result of these inspections, no further actions are required.
