Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

In response to your letter of May 6, 1980, transmitting IE Bulletin 80-10, Carolina Power & Lignt Company (CP&L) is providing the following information:

A review has been conducted of the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant's design and operation to identify systems that are considered as nonradioactive (or described as nonradioactive in the FSAR), but could possibly become radioactive through inter-faces with radioactive systems. A routine sampling / analysis or monitoring program has been established in order to promptly identify any contaminating events which could lead to unmonitored, uncontrolled liquid or gaseous releases to the envorinment, including releases to on-site retention ponds. Documentation of these actions is available at the plant for your review.

We trust that this information satisfies the request of IE Bulletin 80-10.

Very truly yours, J
