This letter confirms nty endorsement of the staff's oral authorization (telephone call by D. Verrelli, NRC, to C. T. Moore, GPC, on July 2, 1980) to anend, temporarily, the Technical Specifications for Edwin I.
Hatch Unit No. 1.
The amendment revises the Limiting Conditions for Operation of the High Pressure Coolant Injection (HPCI) System to per-mit operation from July 3 through July 9,1980 with an inoperable HPCI for purpose of diagnostic and reliability testing of this system. As agreed by members of your staff, we plan to issue a permanent change to the Hatch Unit No.1 Technical Specifications to incorporate our current licensing practices for inoperable HPCI systems. These practices are set forth in tiUREG-0123 " Standard Technical Specifications for General Electric Boiling Water Reac60rs".
Our authorization is in response to your telecopied request dated July 2, 1980. A formal amendment package including our Safety Evaluation and Federal Register Notice will be forwarded to you in the near future.
