Joseph M. Hendrie, Chairman

, , Nuclear Regulatory Commission 4 - Washingten, D.C. 20555 6 "

Dear Chairman Hendrie:

5 Americans For Nuclear Energy (AFNE), this nation's largest pro-energy

~

citizens group, strongly urges you and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to immediately end the outrageous moratorium on licensing new nuclear

{ energy installations.

J.

Moreover, Americans For Nuclear Energy believes it is in the best interest t'

of our nation that North Anna 2 nuclear power plant and all others now

' fully ready for licensing be allowed to begin operation immediately.

d We agree fully with Virginia Governor John Dalton's recent action to end

+ the bureaucratic entanglement surrounding the decision to open North Anna 2.

y -

  • Americans For Nuclear Energy believes that with current international energy

, supplies severely uncertain, it is mandatory for the United States to show

the world we will take the steps necessary to become more energy self-sufficient.

T 5

Allowif.g North Anna 2 and its sister plants to operate will be a major

(- step in that direction.

C p Commissioner Hendrie, your recent actions'in assuming the actual

, responsibilities of Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commissinn "

  • have shown exemplary leadership qualities. We applaud your efforts I.,;' to give the NRC one single voice and decision-maker.

4 i We urge you to :nake that voice a positive one for America's energy

, future.  !

Sincer M ,
