Florida Power C 3 RPGM & 7eQ%
July 3, 1980 File:
3-0-3-a-3 Mr. Richard Snaider Generic Issues Branch U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Subject:
Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72
Dear Mr. Snaider:
This letter is in response to Mr. Darrell G.
Eisenhut's letter of May 19,1980, requesting all power reactor licensees to provide revu..
comments on NUREG-0577, 3r.d the NRC's decision to modify, significantly, the implementation pl3n presented in Section IV of NUREG-0577.
Florida Power Corporation's Crystal River Unit 3 nuclear facility has been in an extended outage situation, and our primary efforts have been involved in implementing those previously identified post-TMI-2 commit-ments and other; safety-related concerns, in order to bring our nuclear unit back on-line. Consequently, we have not had sufficient time to an-alyze the new requirements contained in Mr. Eisenhut's letter, or to provide meaningful coments at this time.
We respectfully request an extension on the comment period uritil Septem-ber 15, 1980, to permit our Operations and Engineering personnel ade-quate time to analyze the potential impact of these new requirements and to consult with our nuclear steam system supplier on this issue.
Your consideration in this matter is appreciated.
i Sincerely, FLORIDA POWER CORPORATION g
