This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. R. T. Dodds and V. H. Hunter of this office on January 22-24, 1973 at Anchor Valve Company in Hayward, California, a supplier of valves for use at the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, and to the discussion of our findings held with Mr. W. Friedrich of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

This inspection was an examination of the Anchor Valve Company's QA-QC

d program and the implementation of the program as it applied to the manufacture of valves for use at the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with plant personnel, and observations by the inspectors.

No violations of AEC requirements were disclosed within the scope of this inspection.

It is our understanding that Anchor Valve Company will modify the existing program for test gauges to provide a detailed method of calibration and recording of calibration data. This item will be examined at the time of our next inspection at the Anchor Valve Company.

Attached to this letter is our inspection report. In accordance with Section 2.790 of the AEC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the AEC's Public Document Room. If this report contains any information that you believe to be proprietary, it is necessary that you submit a written application to this office, within 20 days of the date of this letter, requesting that such information be withheld

of the reasons why it is claimed that the information is proprietary.
