Dear Mr. Thocapson:
A prehearing conference was conver.ed on June 19, 1968 by'an Atoniic Safety and Licensing Board in the matter of Florida Power Corporation's application to construct and operate the Crystal River Unit 3 nuclear power facility. During that meeting the Board raised questions relat-ing to the discharge of radioactive affluents from the reactor complex to the nearby Gulf of Mexico.
We require expert assistance in the preparation of answers to the Board's questions, and in the presentation of testirmony at the July 16,1968 evidentiary hearing. We hereby request that you make available to us the services of your Dr. Theodore Rice or, if he is not available, a member of his staff who can assist us in preparing answers to the questions and who can testify on our behalf at the hearing.
We will authorice travel expenses to the designated individual in i
accordance with Standard Goverranent Travel Regulations (SCT2).
t The hearing is scheduled to convene at the Crystal River Elementary School in Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida on July 16, 1968.
We wish to discuss this matter with Dr. Rice or his designated alter-mate as soon as possible.
