Dear Mr. Ashley:

On Manday, January 25, 1971, further hearings will b2 held before the Atomic Energy Comr.ission in Port Clinton, Ohio, concerning the aroposed installation of a nuclear pouer facility by the Tolcdo Edison Company.

Th_s facility has been the source of consid2 rabic controversy.

Resirients of the Lake Eric shore area, Lucas aad Uood Countics, and other adjacent areas have attempted to protect their property rights, preserve the natural beauty of the Lake Eric shoreline, and also to be cuguizaat of the potential threat to animal and human life chat accompanics the installation of an atomic facility.

The original site and physical plant have now been considerably increased in size without prior _ disclosure by the Toledo Edison Company. The crea or danger zone is now four miles rather than two, and the secondary ono c::tends to include East Toledo. For some unknown reason the increase in capacity and land requirecents was withheld from the residents of Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa Countics.

I feel that the residents of Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa Cou.. . have a right to question the expansion of this incility. Furtl.r, the .

m'a'nner in which this has been acndled raises a doubt in my mind concerning the credibility of Toledo Edison, Davis-Sessa, and other interested parties.

Your attention and assistance in resolving the serious ques 3 ions raised by this hearing would be appreciated. Please adyise me what action you propose taking to assist the resi .n ta o f Luc as , Wood ,

and Ottauc Countics in arriving at a satisfactory solution to this problem.
