This is in response to your reqvst for an updated letter regarding the partici-pation of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the event of an energency at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station.
The primary role of the NRC during a radiation emergency is presently the conduct of investigative activities associated with the incident, verifying that emergency plans and procedures have been implemented, and assuring that the public health and safety are protected.
