Dear Mr. Mallay:
The Regulatory staff has completed its review of Babcock & Wilcox Topical Report BAW-10100, " Reactor Vessel Materials Surveillance Program - Compliance with 10 CFR 50, Appendix H, for Oconce Class Reactors". A su:tmary of our evaluation is enclosed for your information.
As a result of our review, we have concluded that BAU-10100 is acceptable for reference as a topical report in license applications uhen it is used to describe the reactor vessel material surveillance progran. This report is acceptable for B&W 177 fuel assc bly reactors (Oconce class) for which the surveillance specimens had not been prepared prior to issuance of.
Appendix H to 10 CFR 50 and for other new B&W plants.
The staff does not intend to repeat its revicu of BAU-10100 when it appears as a reference in an application.
In accordance with established procedure, it it requested that B&U issue j
a revised version of BAU-101CO within three months of receipt of this letter i
to include the NRC acceptance letter.
Should Regulatory criteria or regulations change, such that our conclusions regarding BAW-10100 are invalidated, you will be notified and given the i
opportunity to revise and resubmit the topical report for review, if you desire.
