t10iiITORI!!G OF EXPLOSIVE MIXTURES IN THE GASE0l'S RADW3STE TREAT'lE.'IT SYSTEMS FOR DAVIS BESSE, U: LIT 1 Pursuant to our letter to you on October 29, 1976 where ue stated our position in Enclosure 1 to that letter regarding redundant oxygen monitors, we' have now detemined that we will not require the pro-visions for automatic control features actuation to orevent potentially-explosive gas mixtures in the gaseous radwaste control system. Our position is restated below.
We require redundant oxygen monitors for tne Davis Besse, Unit 1 gaseous raduaste treatment system. Both monitors shall alam locally and in the control room at the set points of 2" and 4% by volume of oxygen.
Upon alam of either or both nonitors, imediate action shall be taken to reduce the oxygen concentration to safe levels. If either gas monitor or any alarm is int,perable, gas samples shall 1;e taken and analyzed enca 4 hours4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> during offgas system operation; and if the instru-ment can not be made operable within two weeks, the primary waste gas boldup system shall not be operated.
As stated in our October 29, 1976 letter, we request that you amend the Davis Besse. Unit 1 FSAR to conform to the above position.
In order to proceed on our licensing schedule we will need by flovember 15.
