Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. Erb and Vandel

of this office on September 12 - 14, 1972, of construction

activities at the Davis-Besso site authorized by AEC Construction

Permit No. CPPR-80 and to the discussion of our findings at the

conclusion of the inspection with Messrs. Roe, Novak, Wilcox, and

others of your staff.

Areas examined during the inspection included storage of reactor

coolant pressure boundary piping, storage and quality status

identification of primary coolant recirculation piping, concrete

v

placcment and test reports, work performance and NDT reports

concerned with the repair of a damaged containment building

equipment hatch, redesign of in-core instrumentation guide tubes,

the reidentification of plate material used to fabricate the

reactor facility eteam generators, the status cf corrective action

required as a result ot' an audit of the P-X Engineering Company,

and the status of storage of Class I valves. Within these areas,

the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures

cna representative records, interviews with plant personnel, and

observations by the inspectors.

The inspectors also examined actions you have taken with respect

to items identified in your letter of August 25, 1972, relating to

matters previously brought to your attention. We have no further

questions on these matters at this time.

No items of noncompliance with AEC requirements were identified

within the areas examined during this inspection.
