L IDENTIFICATION OF OCCURRDICE: Service Water Pump 1-1 motor lower guide bearing-fallure.

The unit.was in Mo'de 6 with Power (MWT) = 0, Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

and Load (MWE) = 0.

Description of Occurrence: During a routine inspection on May 23, 1978 at 2255

~ hours, operations personnel, observed the motor lower guide bearing on Service J

Water Rump motor 1-1 oozing grease,. making excessive noise, and feeling. abnormal-ly hot.

Service Water Pump 1-1 was shutdown and standby Service Water Pump 1-3 started.

This did not place the unit in an. action statement since the unit was in Mode 6 This is being reported as a component failure.

Designation of Aoparent Cause cf Occurrence: The apparent cause of the occur-rence was from excessive greasing of the bearing through the < grease fitting.
