Dear 'fr. Stolz:
The information given below is our response to Davis-Besse Unit 1 Oper-ating License NPF-3, condition 2.C. (3)(1), as given in Amendment 7, on reactor coolant system flow data and total pressure drops.
The reactor coolant flow rate was determined from heat balance data taken at 90% of rated thermal power. The result was a flow rate equal to (113.4 + 2)% of the design flow rate.
The design flow race is 352,000 GPM for four-pump operation.
In this analysis of the reactor coolant system total pressure drop, the averaged reactor coolant pump head-flow (H-Q) curve was used. This curve was determined from hot performance data taken with each of the Davis-Besse four pumps. From this curve and from the above flow rate, a aystem pressure drop of 338 feet was determined. From the upper and lower uncertainty flow rates for the 90% power data, pressure drops of 331 feet and 344 feet, respectively, were determined.
